Scholarship
Overview
- For UAE / Emirati students, the Abu Dhabi government supports the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed NYUAD Scholarship, which covers full tuition, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, etc., for all four years.
- For non-Emirati / international students, NYUAD offers institutional financial aid/grants based on demonstrated financial need. Applicants must submit the CSS Profile to be considered.
- The financial aid offered to new admits is typically renewed for subsequent years at the same level (i.e. the grants are not re-evaluated to reduce) unless there are changes in financial circumstances.
- For certain graduate/master’s / MFA programs, NYUAD offers scholarships covering 50%–85% of tuition & fees (but not full living expenses), depending on merit/admission within that program.

Scholarship
application details
The primary application for institutional financial aid is the CSS Profile, administered by the College Board. This form must be completed by the student and both parents (custodial and non-custodial, unless a waiver is granted) by the relevant admission deadline. No separate scholarship application is required for admitted students seeking need-based aid. UAE Nationals are automatically considered for the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholarship, but must file the CSS Profile to be considered for the additional, need-based personal support award ("Falcon Dirhams").
- Emirati students / UAE nationals or children of Emirati parents: Automatically awarded the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed NYUAD Scholarship upon admission; no separate application needed.
- Non-Emirati / international students / all students who want institutional aid: Must submit the CSS Profile (including custodial & noncustodial parent profiles or waiver request) by the financial aid deadline aligned with admission.
- Applicants might need to submit financial documentation via the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) if requested.
- Students must maintain good academic standing to continue receiving aid.
Additional
Info
- Aid renewal: Institutional aid awarded on admission is generally renewed automatically each year at the same level, unless the student’s financial situation changes significantly.
- Cost of Attendance: NYUAD defines “direct charges” (tuition, books, housing, meals, insurance) and “indirect / estimated costs” (personal, travel). Grants will be deducted from direct charges each semester.
- Travel/visa support: If travel support is included in the financial aid, NYUAD’s Office of Global Education arranges home travel (do not book your own).
- Graduate/MFA program limitations: For the MFA program, scholarship covers only tuition & fees, not living, travel, or housing costs.
